A skilled nursing facility in Rome, NY is seeking an experienced full-time Medical Biller / Resident Finance Coordinator to manage resident billing, Medicaid applications, insurance verifications, collections, and reimbursement processes.
This role supports accurate financial records and timely payments for residents in a 120-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility undergoing renovation under new management and administration. The position also works closely with finance leadership, DSS case workers, attorneys, collection consultants, and healthcare providers to maintain compliance and resolve billing issues.
Qualifications
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or healthcare setting with a focus on medical billing and coding
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret medical records accurately
- Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private insurance billing
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience and proficiency in NYS Medicaid application processes
- High-level proficiency with billing software and PC-based applications, including Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time, and adapt to changing demands
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
