The Clinical Research Finance & Compliance (CRFC) Department supports accounting and financial analysis for oncology clinical trials, with a focus on revenue and billing.
This role is responsible for ensuring proper billing for patients participating in clinical trials. The specialist reviews patient bills in the medical record system, applies Medicare research coding when appropriate, moves research-specific charges to the research account, maintains research timelines, and helps manage Medicare Coverage Analysis within the clinical trials management system.
The position requires independent judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret medical record chart notes, research protocols, and standard operating procedures. The specialist may also assist with random audits of research billing, maintain the research chargemaster, and prepare basic Medicare Coverage Analyses.
The role works closely with CRFC nursing coordinators, Clinical Trials Office managers and coordinators, principal investigators, and the OSU Medical Center Research Billing Office.
Hybrid schedule: in office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; remote optional Wednesday and Friday.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or a B.S. in a healthcare-related administration field, or equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of relevant experience working in healthcare or clinical research preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing or coding preferred
