AR Specialist

Mercy Medical Center

Join Mercy Medical Center as an AR Specialist supporting patient account management for assigned practice groups.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Physician Billing, this role handles billing for patient accounts, third-party and governmental payors, follow-up and collection of physician claims, denial management, self-pay balance identification, secondary billing, and timely documentation of collection status.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education and experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in accounts receivable management in a hospital or physician group setting
  • Previous experience with hospital or physician billing systems preferred
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Meditech, Epic, and Performance Manager/NetLearning as applicable
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly
  • Ability to work independently and make independent decisions when needed
  • Strong communication and tactful interpersonal skills with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public
  • Flexibility, integrity, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of data entry and filing duties
  • Ability to use copiers, computers, facsimile machines, and postage equipment
