Medical Biller and Coder

Overview

Superior Ambulance Service is a large, locally owned emergency medical services provider operating across the Midwest. The company is hiring a Medical Biller and Coder for its Billing Department.

This role is fully in-office Monday through Friday in Elmhurst, IL or Taylor, MI.

Responsibilities

• Review patient care reports and supporting documentation to determine medical necessity, level of service, origin/destination modifiers, and patient condition at the time of transport.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external departments to obtain missing documentation or clarify unclear information.
• Refer coding or documentation questions to the Processing Manager.
• Resolve issues and clarify documentation with other departments as needed.
• Assign condition codes for trip reasons with at least 95% accuracy.
• Meet coding productivity standards and ensure records are coded accurately and on time.
• Track and report daily productivity to the Processing Manager.
• Use email, Excel, Word, and department files to complete assigned work.
• Attend department meetings and education sessions to improve knowledge of medical terminology and coding guidelines.
