Medical Billing Specialist

CPa Medical Billing, a GeBBS Healthcare company, is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist for a full-time onsite role in Connecticut.

In this position, you will play a key role in the revenue cycle and help support the financial health of the practices served by the organization. The role focuses on solving claim issues, working aged accounts receivable, and helping bring accounts to resolution in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work aged accounts receivable by payer, prioritizing accounts nearing timely filing limits
  • Resolve rejections and rebill promptly
  • Verify eligibility through payer portals and phone outreach
  • Update patient accounts and rebill as needed
  • Contact guarantors to confirm coverage and process self-pay accounts
  • Investigate and resolve credit balances
  • Review and release held claims
  • Initiate and track payer-specific appeals through resolution
  • Maintain detailed documentation on all actions taken
  • Provide status updates and reports as requested
  • Meet productivity and quality goals
  • Escalate payer or system issues to management promptly
  • Support teammates, share knowledge, and participate in training and cross-training
  • Work closely with coding staff to resolve claim issues
  • Follow payer guidelines and company protocols
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time medical billing experience
  • Available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, for a 40-hour onsite schedule in East Haven, CT
  • Strong independent work ethic in a high-volume environment
  • Experience with eCW (eClinicalWorks) preferred
  • Completion of a medical billing or coding program, or certification, strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accountability
