Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, this role supports daily billing operations for a clinic setting, including scrubbing visits, posting charges, completing billing batches, responding to patient billing inquiries, and coordinating with clinic staff to ensure accurate claim submission.
Key responsibilities include:
- Post copayments, coinsurance, deductibles, and self-pay balances.
- Review charges, diagnoses, and services rendered prior to billing.
- Verify patient eligibility and update demographics and insurance information.
- Generate statements, receipts, and follow-up instructions.
- Apply payments and adjustments in the practice management system.
- Identify and escalate billing discrepancies or missing documentation.
- Coordinate with clinical and billing teams to support clean claims.
- Review, proof, and correct claims prior to submission.
- Process insurance authorizations as needed.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow organizational policies.
Requirements & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required, with medical coding training or equivalent preferred.
Preferred experience:
- 1 year of medical front desk or medical billing experience.
Knowledge and skills:
- Medical terminology.
- CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Standard software such as Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Fluent English and Spanish communication.
- Ability to learn payer billing requirements and electronic billing processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
