New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is seeking a full-time Billing Specialist-Accounts Receivable (AR) to join its professional billing team.
In this role, you will manage assigned insurance payer accounts and perform the full accounts receivable life cycle. Responsibilities include researching unpaid claims, resolving denials, addressing partial payments and over-payments, and communicating with payers, patients, and internal team members.
NECS is a private medical practice serving patients across Maine with oncology and hematology services. The organization is committed to high-quality patient care, confidentiality, privacy, and HIPAA compliance.
The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule with no nights or weekends. Travel is rare.
• High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience • Preferred: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) • Preferred: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) • Preferred: Microsoft Excel experience • Strong knowledge of insurance payers • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding • Working knowledge of EOBs, EFTs, and ERAs • Knowledge of insurance appeal processes • Proficient computer skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
