Responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining the billing process for medical claims for specialty pharmacy facilities. This role communicates financial and clinical information to internal and external stakeholders to help ensure payment for services.
Works under minimal supervision and follows standard procedures to complete assigned tasks. The position includes managing claim submission and reconciliation, supporting reporting and trend analysis, improving policies and procedures, and coordinating with pharmacy and finance staff on billing, receipts, and related clerical responsibilities.
Limited travel may be required for visits to healthcare providers, business and management conferences, and periodic training and review at facilities.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical billing/coding certification preferred
- Pharmacy technician or related certification preferred
- Past experience in a customer service-related field
- Past experience in a medical billing environment
- 12–24 months of experience as a pharmacy technician
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Excellent computer, keyboarding, and Excel skills
- Broad knowledge of medications, physician orders, and pharmacy systems
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
- Successful completion of a pre-employment and/or random drug screening test
