The Revenue Cycle Specialist supports the Clinical Research Finance & Compliance (CRFC) Department in ensuring proper billing for oncology clinical trials.
This role focuses on reviewing patient bills in the medical record system, applying Medicare research coding when appropriate, moving research-specific charges to the correct research account, maintaining research timelines, and keeping Medicare Coverage Analysis records up to date.
The position also supports random audits of research billing, helps maintain the research chargemaster, and may prepare basic Medicare Coverage Analyses. The work is largely independent and requires sound judgment based on chart notes, research protocols, and clinical operating procedures.
The specialist works closely with CRFC Nursing Program Coordinators, Clinical Trials Office managers and coordinators, Principal Investigators, and the Medical Center Research Billing Office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or B.A./B.S. in a healthcare-related administration field, or equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of relevant experience working in healthcare or clinical research preferred
- Knowledge of medical billing or coding preferred
