The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for daily operational tasks associated with revenue cycle accounts receivable.
This role follows up on and manages requests from patients and primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance payers. It also handles clearinghouse activity, prepares appeals, resolves upfront edits and denials, and monitors monthly write-offs, charge corrections, and claim file reconciliation for the assigned area.
The position is based in Sentara Patient Accounting in Norfolk, VA and follows a hybrid work schedule with standard working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.

Qualifications
- 3+ years of insurance claims or medical billing experience required
- Diploma or certification in medical insurance billing and coding may be accepted in lieu of experience
- Epic experience strongly preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
