This role works directly with patients, insurance companies, and medical providers to support collections, claims follow-up, and account resolution in a patient-focused healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Handling and resolving patient billing inquiries and complaints efficiently
- Managing the collections process, including submitting medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring timely payments
- Reviewing accounts for potential write-offs and making decisions based on company guidelines
- Monitoring insurance activity and patient receivables, escalating significant issues to management
- Conducting audits to ensure compliance with standard practices and applicable legal regulations
- Maintaining accurate records of interactions with patients and insurers
- Providing account status and collections reports to management as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma required; additional education in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare and state Medicaid
- Proficiency with medical software programs and electronic health records
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail
- Understanding of medical terminology and collection-related laws
