Medical Collections Specialist

Hope Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join its billing department. This role works directly with patients, insurance companies, and medical providers to support collections, claims follow-up, and account resolution in a patient-focused healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Handling and resolving patient billing inquiries and complaints efficiently
  • Managing the collections process, including submitting medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring timely payments
  • Reviewing accounts for potential write-offs and making decisions based on company guidelines
  • Monitoring insurance activity and patient receivables, escalating significant issues to management
  • Conducting audits to ensure compliance with standard practices and applicable legal regulations
  • Maintaining accurate records of interactions with patients and insurers
  • Providing account status and collections reports to management as needed
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma required; additional education in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare and state Medicaid
  • Proficiency with medical software programs and electronic health records
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Understanding of medical terminology and collection-related laws
