We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated medical biller to join a growing home health care team. The role focuses on processing and managing insurance claims, verifying billing information, following up on unpaid claims, and assisting patients and staff with billing-related questions.
Responsibilities include:
- Process and submit medical claims for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care plans
- Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and assist with appeals and corrections as needed
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, authorizations, and billing requirements
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, payment discrepancies, and authorization issues
- Work with clinicians, intake staff, physicians' offices, and hospitals to obtain required documentation and orders
- Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately into the billing system
- Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation
- Assist patients and families with billing questions and insurance-related concerns
- Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collection efforts when appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Support the administrative team with additional office and billing duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous medical billing experience required; home health billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, EVV, PDGM, and managed care billing processes preferred
- Experience with EMR or billing software systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
