Medical Coding and Billing Instructor

The College of Health Care Professions

The Medical Coding and Billing Instructor delivers competency-based education aligned with CHCP’s curriculum model. This role supports student success by creating an engaging, learning-centered environment and preparing students for the demands of medical coding and billing careers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide instruction through residential and blended delivery methods
  • Develop instructional plans aligned with course competencies and lesson objectives
  • Foster an engaging classroom environment that encourages active participation and success
  • Promote mutual respect, lifelong learning, and ethical practices
  • Integrate real-world industry experience into the curriculum
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and reporting records
  • Participate in faculty, departmental, and school-wide meetings
  • Contribute to campus service and special project committees
  • Support program and curriculum-related questions and initiatives
  • Attend Program Advisory Committee meetings annually
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support institutional goals
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Certificate, degree, or post-secondary education with relevant experience meeting state and accreditation requirements
  • 1–2 years of experience in instruction or formalized education, preferably in a post-secondary or college setting
  • Certification, registry, and/or licensure in the field of instruction as recognized by state regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations
  • Membership in a professional association related to the area of instruction is preferred
