The Reimbursement Specialist works within the Clinical Charge Capture Team in the Revenue Management Department. This role is responsible for accurate and timely manual charge posting across hospitals and outpatient areas, including drug administration and infusion charges, observation hours, ER level and procedure charges, ancillary departments, and HOPD offices.
The position supports optimal revenue while maintaining compliance with all regulations and requires knowledge of charge capture workflows, charging systems, coding guidelines, and reimbursement rules. The role also involves reviewing outpatient observation and inpatient encounters for correct admission status, assisting with administrative tasks, and supporting other revenue cycle or clinical services functions as needed.
The department maintains and monitors charges for multiple hospitals and outpatient departments, supports HIM and ROI system functions, and collaborates closely with IT, clinical staff, and finance. The role includes some travel to Aultman locations for meetings and projects, with onsite training required before flexible at-home work begins.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of billing or coding experience in a hospital or physician office setting
- Solid computer skills, including Health Quest Medipac, Cerner, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience in hospital reimbursement, revenue audits, or charge capture
- Knowledge of current Medicare and other regulatory billing guidelines
- Ability to manage multiple demands from different stakeholders
- Health information or nursing background is helpful
- CCS, CCSP, or a coding certificate is helpful
- Strong time management, attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and within a productivity-driven workflow
- Comfortable speaking to large groups and presenting
