Chart Management Auditor - Medical Record Governance

UAB Medicine

To develop and conduct quality audits related to medical records management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop quality audits of data and processes related to the integrity of the medical record and medical records management across UAB Medicine.
  • Assist in developing efficient audit tools and data models in collaboration with technical groups, leveraging technology where possible.
  • Validate audits developed.
  • Conduct quality audits of data and processes related to chart scanning of records within an EHR for MRG team members and other UAB Health System locations as needed.
  • Compile and analyze audit findings, identify trends and patterns, and troubleshoot root causes in collaboration with MRG end users.
  • Develop summary reports to communicate findings to leadership and others as appropriate.
  • Provide education to UAB staff and MRG leadership when necessary.
  • Participate in writing and updating policies and procedures related to chart management auditing.
  • Work closely with the MRG Manager and Senior Director to help improve documentation in the medical record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3 years of related experience in a medical field, or
  • 10 years of relevant experience working closely with medical records within an EHR.
