Life Link III is a nationally recognized air medical transport company focused on providing high-quality care to critically ill and injured patients. This role supports the full medical billing process for complex air medical transport services, ensuring accurate billing, regulatory compliance, and timely reimbursement.
The position works closely with patients, hospitals, insurance providers, and internal teams to resolve billing issues, maintain data integrity, and support compassionate patient communication during the billing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and auditing transport documentation for billing accuracy and compliance
- Verifying insurance coverage for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Submitting accurate claims for rotor wing, fixed wing, and specialty care transports
- Researching and resolving billing discrepancies and missing documentation
- Applying ICD-10 and transport billing codes
- Maintaining accurate patient records and processing payments, adjustments, and balances
- Serving as a primary contact for patient billing questions and financial support
- Assisting with hardship waivers, charity care, payment plans, and appeals
- Collaborating with the billing team on audits, process improvements, and special projects
Minimum qualifications:
- 3+ years of healthcare billing experience, including insurance verification and diagnosis coding
- Experience using ICD-10 coding
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing processes
- Professional experience responding to patient, customer, and payer inquiries
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities
- Experience with billing software systems
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- Billing or coding certifications such as CAC, CADS, CPC, CPB, or CEDC
- Experience in complex healthcare or emergency services billing environments
- Familiarity with insurance appeals and payer follow-up processes
- Experience coordinating payment plans and negotiating patient balances
