Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for ensuring the quality of medical records by verifying completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems. The position assembles and analyzes patient data to support improved patient care and cost control.
Key duties include:
- Creating radiology image CDs for surgical procedures, continuing care, and patient requests
- Anonymizing and quality-checking radiology images for research study sponsors
- Reviewing and processing Epic MyChart Proxy requests and advanced care planning documents
- Serving as a liaison for LifeImage and managing radiology image nominations to PACS
- Managing transcription interface errors and coordinating with the transcription vendor
- Processing third-party payor audit requests
- Training clinical staff on health information processes
- Supporting coding, indexing, order entry quality checks, and documentation review
- Coordinating with physicians and patients to resolve open encounters and deficiencies
- Providing coverage for release of information
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with privacy and security regulations
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of comparable quantitative and analytical work
- Experience maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
- Ability to use ad hoc report writing tools
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documents, and electronic records applications
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Sound judgment and analytical thinking to prioritize work under turnaround constraints
- Experience in multiple areas of Health Information Management, including Release of Information and Transcription, preferred
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Required experience:
- Six years of Health Information or relevant medical clerical experience
