Remote certified medical coding role supporting Coding - Behavioral Health & Dermatology.
Key Responsibilities
- Code patient health records using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS for claim processing and analysis.
- Abstract necessary information and assign APC or DRG classifications.
- Perform complex coding while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Query physicians when documentation is unclear.
- Stay current with coding guidelines and reimbursement requirements.
- Conduct chart audits and provide education.
- Follow AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- One or more of the following credentials:
- CCS from AHIMA
- CPC from AAPC
- Coder specializing in Cardiac from AAPC
- RHIA from AHIMA
- RHIT from AHIMA
- High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
- Professional licensure/certification may substitute for education or experience where applicable.
- Preferred: experience in Behavioral Health and Dermatology coding.
