The Medical Records Technician is responsible for completing coding-related tasks, ongoing correspondence activities related to patients' health records, and maintaining the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of patient information.
This role supports a 104-bed acute care psychiatric hospital in Dover, Delaware, serving adolescent and adult patients through inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.
Key duties include analyzing patient charts, assigning correct ICD-10 codes, entering final diagnoses into the patient computer system for billing, communicating documentation issues with physicians, supporting the Business Office and Utilization Review teams, participating in Medicare quarterly audits, and retrieving and processing discharge charts and dictated reports.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Nationally certified medical records coder, or actively working toward certification
