Reviews medical records for completeness in compliance with hospital bylaws, HFAP standards, and federal and state requirements.
Provides data support through medical record review, data entry, spreadsheet maintenance, database upkeep, data collection, verification, validation, and reporting for external reporting agencies.
Additional responsibilities include filing records, releasing medical records according to policy, scanning legacy records, logging deficiencies, supporting audits, assisting with phone coverage, maintaining confidentiality, completing birth and death certificate data entry, and helping maintain accurate and complete medical records.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Administration or Health Information Technician preferred, or equivalent healthcare training
- Previous hospital or clinic experience preferred
- Knowledge of HFAP standards and state medical record requirements preferred
- RHIA or RHIT certification preferred
- Familiarity with Nebraska medical record requirements and CMS preferred
Additional Expectations
- Ability to process a minimum of 20 medical records per day
- Must be able to support additional assignments and possible on-call hours
- Compliance with OSHA standards and universal precautions
