Lakeland Regional Health is seeking an inpatient coding professional to review clinical documentation and diagnostic results, assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers, and support reimbursement and statistical reporting.
This role works closely with physicians, physician advisors, and other hospital staff to obtain optimal documentation and ensure coding compliance. The position also involves denial follow-up, appeal development, and ongoing education on coding regulations and payer guidelines.
Work schedule: 80 hours per biweekly pay period
Shift: Flexible hours and/or flexible schedule

Qualifications
- High school diploma plus an Associate Degree from an accredited HIM program, or a certificate in coding from an accredited college
- 2-5 years of acute care hospital inpatient coding experience within the past five years
- CCS certification required
- RHIT or RHIA preferred
- Associate degree preferred
Knowledge and skills
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, POAs, HACs, PSIs, SOIs, ROMs, mortality rates, and physician queries
- MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodology expertise
- Experience with computerized encoder products and computer-assisted coding applications
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
