The Medical Records Specialist supports billing operations by managing, organizing, and fulfilling claim-related medical record requests.
This is a full-time entry-level position in a business or administrative department with minimal to no direct patient interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Process medical record requests from insurance companies related to pending claims, including faxing, mailing, or uploading files to payer portals
- Ensure responses are timely, accurate, and complete
- Verify patient information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient information
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in medical records, health information management, or administrative support preferred
- Knowledge of EHR systems preferred
- Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy standards preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software
