Responsible for releasing authorized patient medical information, processing subpoenas and court orders, and maintaining patient medical records in accordance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Reviews medical records for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
- Tracks physician and clinician delinquency and documentation deficiencies.
- Scans paper documents into the EMR and corrects record errors in EPIC.
- Processes requests for release of information and logs requests in the EMR.
- Creates invoices for billable medical record copies and manages payments.
- Retrieves, files, and maintains patient records and enters documentation after downtime as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- RHIT preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience working with patient medical records.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
- Office software experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
- Experience with office machines such as copiers and fax machines preferred.
- Strong multitasking, communication, and customer service skills required.
