Maintain accurate and complete medical records for a 24/7, 16-bed state-run secure residential treatment facility in Pendleton, Oregon.
Responsibilities include overseeing diagnostic coding in the EHR, including accurate assignment and verification of ICD-10 codes, supporting Medicaid billing and claims submission, auditing records for integrity and completeness, entering demographic data, archiving records in a HIPAA-compliant manner, and coordinating with clinical staff.
The role also provides administrative support such as coordinating meetings and schedules and maintaining organized documentation systems to support efficient department operations.
Minimum qualifications
- Two years of experience related to health information work, including processing, maintaining, compiling, or reporting patient information in a healthcare setting
- Or an associate degree in Health Information Technology from an accredited program
- Or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Desired qualifications
- Experience submitting prior authorization requests for Medicaid billing
- Ability to apply administrative rules for record completeness, audit, and quality assurance
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including QMHA, QMHP, and licensed professionals
- Knowledge of medical, psychiatric, and legal terminology and medical transcription standards
- Strong organization, prioritization, time management, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Adobe DC
- Experience with hybrid paper and electronic medical records in an inpatient setting
- Knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes related to disclosure of patient information
