The Clinical Operations team is seeking a Senior Medical Coding Specialist to support accurate, compliant, and clinically sound documentation and coding across behavioral health services. This role is centered on auditing, provider education, and continuous documentation quality improvement.
What you'll do
- Audit behavioral health documentation and coding for accuracy, compliance, and completeness
- Deliver actionable feedback to providers through 1:1 remediation meetings
- Educate providers on coding and documentation guidelines, including medical decision making for outpatient E/M services
- Serve as a subject matter expert for coding-related questions and internal process creation
- Contribute to provider education efforts and identify documentation gaps
- Provide insights on coding trends, risk areas, tooling, product, and training improvements
- Collaborate cross-functionally on billing code guardrails and quality initiatives
- Stay current on coding guidelines, payer rules, and industry standards
What you need
- CPC certification required
- 2+ years of outpatient or professional services coding experience in a behavioral health setting
- Experience educating providers on medical decision making for outpatient Evaluation and Management services
- Strong auditing experience; CPMA certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and documentation requirements
- Clear, empathetic communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Comfort using Google Workspace, Zoom, and EMR platforms
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, digital, cross-functional environment
