The Medical Records Specialist reports to the Department Manager and Site Director and supports the department by providing high-quality service in requesting medical records.
This position is based in the Bridgewater office and requires daily on-site commuting. After the training period, one work-from-home day may be scheduled.
Responsibilities include:
- Requesting medical records and bills from doctors' offices, hospitals, urgent care centers, and similar providers
- Making outbound calls daily for records retrieval
- Handling incoming and outgoing phone calls professionally and courteously
- Maintaining accurate records request reports and following up on request status
- Representing attorneys by communicating and obtaining information, following up on delegated assignments, and knowing when to escalate matters
- Maintaining client confidence by keeping client and attorney information confidential
- Supporting departmental goals by taking ownership of assigned tasks and identifying opportunities to add value
- Performing other duties as required
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office experience
- Strong clerical and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with medical records terminology preferred
- Must be energetic, well organized, and able to multitask
