Optum is seeking a medical coder to support urgent care outpatient professional accounts. In this role, you will assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes, monitor work queues, generate coding queries when documentation needs clarification, and help ensure records are coded and charged in a timely manner.
This position offers the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S., subject to the company’s telecommuter policy.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Professional coder certification through AHIMA and/or AAPC, such as CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, or CCS, maintained annually
- 2+ years of experience using PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems
- 2+ years of experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding, with a focus in urgent care
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of post-certification medical coding experience
- 2+ years of outpatient physician coding (pro-fee) experience
- Experience with Epic or other EMR systems
