Processes patient health information electronically and maintains accurate medical chart documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Clinical knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to read and understand medical charts
- Knowledge of comorbid conditions
- Ability to accurately identify medical record documents by name for electronic filing
- Excellent customer relations and phone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to complete tasks within established timeframes
- Ability to follow clinic policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and assist coworkers as needed
- Adaptability to expanded roles
Preferred experience
- Previous experience in a medical office, medical coding, or medical records
Additional duties
- Handle requests for release of patient medical information according to HIPAA rules and copy service contract
