Medical Records Assistant

Berkshire Health Systems

Responsible for the processing of patient medical records, either concurrently and/or as assigned.

This role is a key part of the department and works closely with various departmental and hospital personnel.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

  • One year of office experience required
  • One year of medical record experience preferred
  • Experience with terminal digit filing preferred

Education and Training

  • High school diploma required
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Basic computer skills preferred

Other Requirements

  • Professional demeanor
  • Excellent keyboarding skills preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Competency in alphabetical filing
  • Ability to perform very detailed tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle multiple situations and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with coworkers, visitors, physicians, and medical center personnel
  • Highly responsible and detail-oriented
  • Ability to contribute to a team and follow through on assignments
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge and experience with Meditech preferred
  • Ability to work at multiple campus sites
