Center for Sight is the largest eye center in the Pensacola area, with one main complex and two satellite offices serving the region. The practice provides a full range of eye care services, from general exams and LASIK to complex surgeries.
The Medical Record Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day processing of medical records, including paper and electronic files. This role involves organizing, filing, retrieving, and scanning patient medical records, handling correspondence and records requests, and assisting the surgery scheduler with administrative tasks, paperwork, and phone calls. The position also includes front desk coverage and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient information.
- Follow professional standards, policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, local, and JCAHPO requirements.
- Organize, file, and retrieve patient medical records as needed.
- Understand medical record control, access, and storage practices.
- Prepare and process release of medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
- Receive, review, and forward incoming correspondence to the appropriate department or staff member.
- Receive, screen, and coordinate telephone calls from patients and healthcare providers.
- Scan internal medical records as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and coworkers on a routine basis.
- One year of experience in a medical clerical position or related customer service role.
