Responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with regulatory standards. This role prepares charts, sorts, scans, and files medical documents into the EMR system, fulfills medical record requests, and supports the medical records department with administrative and customer service tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing charts for upcoming appointments
- Sorting, scanning, and filing paper medical documents into appropriate EMR categories
- Documenting and fulfilling patient medical record copy requests
- Handling medical records requests from insurance companies and attorneys
- Obtaining progress notes, test results, hospital records, and other correspondence requested by providers
- Answering incoming phone calls for the medical records department
- Performing other duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with EMR systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Customer service orientation
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer
