The Medical Records Assistant supports the Medical Records department by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant management of patient records. This role handles clerical and administrative functions, including document processing, phone support, and coordination with clinical and administrative teams to maintain efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, organize, and manage patient medical records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Scan, file, and upload documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system with a high degree of accuracy
- Provide front-line phone support, including answering calls, routing calls, and assisting with inquiries
- Process medical records requests and support audits
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards
- Assist with data entry and administrative tasks
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Some college coursework preferred
- Healthcare office experience required
- EMR experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional communication and phone etiquette
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
