The Facility Combined HIM Specialist performs a variety of health information management functions, including processing non-electronic requests for information, managing DNFB/Provider Hold Report issues, and supporting chart completion workflows.
This role helps ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and timely handling of medical record information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. The specialist also serves as a liaison between the HIM department, physicians, and other hospital staff to help resolve chart completion concerns and support monthly chart review activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior exposure to electronic medical record (EMR) systems and/or document imaging systems
- Experience with other healthcare computer applications
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
- One year of healthcare experience in medical records processing, physician office, business office, and/or customer service
- RHIA certification
- RHIT certification through AHIMA
- Bilingual skills
