Assists the clinical department with recordkeeping, chart audits, statistical reports, typing, and electronic medical record support. Responsible for entering new admissions, level-of-care changes, discharges, contact visits, physician orders, signature dates, and face-to-face completion dates into the EMR. Also supports ordering supplies and other administrative tasks as needed.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and updating patient files in the EMR, completing chart admission audits, scanning and filing clinical documents, tracking certification statements and physician orders, maintaining patient on-call books, obtaining signatures and patient information from outside facilities, supporting annual reporting and other patient data requests, managing visit logs and contact visit reports, assisting with DME and supply tracking, participating in quality improvement activities, ensuring documentation is ready for team meetings, closing and archiving paper records, typing letters and reports, and answering and routing phone calls professionally.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of medical records experience, preferably in home health or a similar setting
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Flexibility, cooperation, and self-direction
- Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated healthcare team
