This role is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, supporting providers with timely access to medical information, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a commitment to patient care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain, organize, and update electronic and paper medical records
  • Enter patient health information accurately into the EMR system
  • Retrieve and process medical records requests from patients, providers, and authorized entities
  • Collaborate with providers and staff on documentation and recordkeeping
  • Protect patient confidentiality and secure medical records appropriately
  • Assist with audits and quality assurance checks for completeness and accuracy
  • Process release-of-information requests according to clinic policies and regulations
  • Respond to medical records inquiries professionally and discreetly
Requirements & Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in medical records management
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical recordkeeping standards
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems

Skills:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
