Medical Records Clerk

NaphCare is hiring a Medical Records Clerk to join its team of medical professionals at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA.

This is a correctional healthcare position supporting medical professionals who provide care to incarcerated individuals. The role focuses on maintaining, organizing, and processing inmate medical records within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Enter patient information into electronic systems, file documents, and maintain physical and digital filing systems
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and quality of medical documentation
  • Handle requests for medical information from authorized parties, such as hospitals, clinics, and physicians, while following HIPAA and other privacy regulations
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, answer phones, and relay messages related to medical records
  • Create, update, and organize inmate medical records, including assembling and disassembling files
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and other duties as assigned

Physical requirements

  • Stand for long periods
  • Lift and move patients up to 50 pounds
  • Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including CPR
  • Maintain balance and endurance throughout a shift
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in challenging and stressful environments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to follow a code of conduct and comply with correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
