The Medical Records Specialist processes and organizes medical records in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards, as well as state and federal laws. This role supports chart creation and completion, record digitization and filing, medical record requests, storage and retention, and audit support within an ambulatory surgery center environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities include:
- Chart creation and preparation
- Chart completion and operative report processing
- Responding to medical record requests
- Retrieving, digitizing, filing, and maintaining records
- Supporting audits and registration processes
- Maintaining record storage and retention
- Performing other assigned duties
Preferred qualifications include:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center, or related field
- Computer proficiency with Excel, Word, EMR systems, medical billing, and records storage software/applications
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
