Assures the integrity and quality of medical records archived through document imaging technology. This role supports document preparation, scanning, indexing, quality control, and real-time point-of-care scanning so clinically relevant information is available in the electronic medical record within 24 hours of creation.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing clinical and financial documents for entry into the document imaging system
- Validating document batches during the capture process
- Performing quality checks to ensure scanned documents are accurate and complete
- Indexing scanned documents to the correct locations in the electronic medical record
- Making necessary corrections before batch committal
- Validating patient and encounter information when needed
- Answering department phones and completing patient care requests as needed
- Filing scanned medical records for transport to storage
- Supporting performance improvement initiatives using LEAN methodology
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of medical record forms
- 1 year of PC keyboarding experience
