Medical Records Clerk

The Medical Records Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient medical records while efficiently managing clinical supply inventory. This position supports compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies related to medical documentation and supply chain processes. The role acts as a liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external entities to facilitate smooth information flow and resource availability, contributing to high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in Health Information Management or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical records management in a healthcare setting; PointClickCare preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Nurse Aide or Medication Aide certification in Texas preferred.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care environment.
  • Proficiency with PointClickCare EHR.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Additional training in healthcare compliance and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate the collection, organization, and secure storage of patient medical records for clinical and administrative use.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical records and supply inventory to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Train and support staff on proper documentation procedures and supply management protocols.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits related to medical records and supply management.
