Medical Records Coordinator 2

Member of the Student Health Services Health Information Management team supporting the Ohio State University student population by maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient health records.

Responsibilities include analyzing health records for completeness and accuracy, resolving unmatched reports and records, reviewing records for quality issues, routing internal and external health records to the proper destination, preparing/scanning/indexing documents into the electronic health record, responding to authorized requests for health records, maintaining vaccination compliance records for incoming students, updating electronic health record information, answering student compliance questions, and explaining compliance policies and requirements.

This position is 100% on-site at Wilce Student Health Center.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience (or 1000 hours of coursework/training) in customer service or communications, including analyzing and interpreting information
  • 6 months of experience (or 600 hours of training) operating computer and related peripheral equipment
  • 3 months of experience (or 300 hours of coursework) in information research and analysis

Desired

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and office equipment, including word processors, databases, and document servers
  • 3 years of Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to prepare written documents of a moderate to complex or technical nature
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical data as related to health information
  • Familiarity with legal principles, policies, regulations, and standards for the control, use, and dissemination of health information
  • 1 year of experience analyzing patient medical records for missing information and the adequacy of healthcare documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple variables, communicate with diverse customers and colleagues, and handle sensitive inquiries
  • Certified public notary

  • Successful completion of a background check required
  • Drug screen and/or physical may be required post-offer
