Health Records Specialist

Select Medical

Supporting inpatient rehabilitation hospitals at Select Medical Corporate Headquarters in Mechanicsburg, PA. This full-time, on-site role focuses on health information management and medical record operations in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative medical record reviews
  • Communicate with physicians about incomplete records and follow up for timely completion
  • Scan and index records according to policy
  • Work with hospital leaders, physicians, and clinicians to maintain accurate records
  • Process release of information requests in compliance with applicable requirements
  • Abstract clinical and quality data for internal and external reporting
  • Assist with data collection and CMS reporting submissions
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and complete other assigned duties
Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of experience in a Health Information department within a healthcare facility
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and work independently
  • Experience with Epic or other EMRs and database systems
  • Professional communication skills with hospital staff, clinicians, and external partners
  • Customer-service mindset and ability to adapt to changing workload demands
  • Respect for confidentiality and regulatory standards

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or a related healthcare field
  • RHIT or RHIA certification
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and Joint Commission standards
