Medical Records Specialist

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Join TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center as a Medical Records Specialist supporting health information management operations. This role assists the HIM Director with workflow queues in HPF/MPF, worklists in 3M 360 Encompass, unbilled account resolution, and physician suspension processing. The position also serves as a primary contact when the HIM Director or HIM Coordinator is unavailable.

Key responsibilities

  • Retrieve discharged medical records from hospital departments and reconcile records for completeness.
  • Retrieve, print, store, archive, and retain medical records and alternate media.
  • Support physician suspension workflows, including notices and reminder calls.
  • Prepare records and loose documents for scanning.
  • Scan, index, and quality-check medical record documentation.
  • Assist with birth certificate processing and documentation as required by state law.
  • Collect and document birth information from parents and review patient records for required details.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Hospital or medical office experience preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience handling patient health information, medical records document imaging, or medical records is strongly preferred.
  • State certification may be required for birth certificate processing; training and course fees will be provided.
