Supports inpatient medical record review to improve the quality, completeness, clinical severity, and accuracy of clinical documentation for DRG-based or APR-based payer populations.
Works closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to promote appropriate documentation, review records within 24 to 48 hours of admission, assign working DRGs, identify comorbidities and complications, and track quality/documentation opportunities. Uses Epic and 3M 360, communicates findings clearly, assists with education, and contributes to CDI performance and workflow improvements.
• Five years of clinical nursing experience in acute care, utilization review, case management, quality management, and/or hospital-based clinical documentation • Valid RN license • CCDS certification preferred on hire and required within three years • Current ACDIS certification status must be maintained • Knowledge of evidence-based clinical guidelines across a wide range of conditions and age groups • Knowledge of resource/utilization management and healthcare revenue cycle concepts • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze problems, and make sound decisions • Experience with Epic and 3M 360 preferred • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and comply with PHI security requirements
