Medical Records Specialist

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with rotating weekends.

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to support Health Information Management operations at St. David's Georgetown Hospital. This role assists with workflow queues, unbilled account resolution, physician suspension processing, and serves as the primary point of contact when the HIM Director or HIM Coordinator is unavailable.

Key responsibilities include retrieving discharged medical records, reconciling records from multiple departments, managing storage and archival of documents and alternate media, preparing documents for scanning, scanning and indexing medical records, and performing quality control checks to ensure all documents are properly scanned and associated with each record. The role also supports birth certificate processing and interacts with parents to collect and document birth information, complete forms, and review medical records to obtain required information.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Hospital or medical office experience preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience handling patient health information, medical records document imaging, or medical records strongly preferred
  • State certification may be required for birth certificate processing
  • Training and course fees will be provided if certification is needed
