Assures the integrity and quality of medical records archived through document imaging technology. This role supports document preparation, scanning, indexing, quality control, and real-time point-of-care scanning to ensure clinically relevant documents are available in the electronic medical record within 24 hours of creation.
Schedule
- Full time, 40 hours per week
- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
- 8:30am-5:00pm once per month
- No holidays or weekends
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare clinical and financial documents for entry into the document imaging system
- Validate that document batches are accounted for during the capture process
- Perform quality checks on scanned documents to ensure proper entry and scanning
- Index scanned documents to the correct locations within the electronic medical record
- Make corrections to documents prior to batch committal
- Validate patient and encounter information as needed
- Answer department telephones and complete patient care requests as needed
- Place scanned medical records in the appropriate area for transport to storage
- Support performance improvement initiatives using LEAN methodology
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of medical record forms
- One year of PC keyboarding experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of document imaging storage and retrieval systems
- One year of experience in a Health Information Management department or related department
- Customer service background
