Reviews a moderate caseload of medical and health records to improve the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation, assigns medical codes and DRGs to support accurate diagnosis capture, and helps enhance the clinical documentation improvement/integrity (CDI) program. This role supports regulatory compliance through audits, clinical documentation review, and documentation of non-compliance, while also collaborating on staff training and education related to clinical documentation improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an inpatient acute care or clinical setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medicine, Health Administration, Health Information Management, or a related field and at least 4 years of experience in nursing, medicine, CDI, inpatient coding, quality review, case management, or a directly related field; or at least 7 years of experience in nursing, medicine, CDI, inpatient coding, quality review, case management, or a directly related field.
- Active California licensure/certification at hire: Physician Assistant License, Doctor of Medicine License, Nurse Practitioner Certificate, or Registered Nurse License.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCDS, CDIP, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT credential.
- 3 years of experience using Epic or another EMR system.
