The Skilled Nursing Home (SNF) Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is responsible for maintaining residents' health records during and after SNF stays. This role ensures compliance with legal medical record standards through concurrent and retrospective chart audits, reviews medical documentation for completeness, assigns deficiencies for completion, and completes release of information requests for SNF medical records.
The specialist also provides customer service to family members and visitors regarding HIM-related questions and supports the HIM Department with additional duties as assigned by the HIM Director.
Schedule: Part-time (0.6), AM shift
Approximate pay range: $29.17 - $39.20 per hour
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical records management required
- Associate degree or equivalent required
- Experience with SNF medical records required
- Understanding of federal and state SNF regulations as they relate to HIM required
- Completion of a course in Medical Terminology or Health Information Management preferred
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) credential preferred
