Clinical Quality Abstractor

Bryan Health

Responsible for data abstraction and analysis of clinical data from a variety of sources to support performance improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with CMS and other regulatory standards. Reviews clinical documentation and ensures the accuracy and completeness of information used for measuring and reporting process measures. Works closely with the Director of Quality and Patient Safety to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects.

  • Conduct data collections, chart audits, reviews, and analysis in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to requests for information related to quality measures, including clinical interpretation of data element definitions, data submission processes, data quality and cleaning, and comparative facility/corporate report interpretation.
  • Prepare training materials as needed to support quality data collection.
  • Use data analysis to assist in developing materials for QI committees and administrative teams.
  • Participate in quality-related conference calls, webinars, and other education as requested.
  • Participate in process improvement and quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain clear communication and strong working relationships with managers, physicians, and invasive cardiology staff.
  • Maintain hospital requirements, policies, standards, and patient confidentiality.
  • Recognize occurrences and file appropriate forms with Risk Management.
  • Report to work on time, maintain scheduling flexibility, and support overtime during high-volume periods.
  • Attend required in-services, education sessions, and unit meetings.
  • Take responsibility for ongoing learning and professional growth.
Requirements & Qualifications

RN, LPN, or CVT preferred.

  • Previous clinical knowledge and proficiency in hospital electronic medical records required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient computer knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.
