Chart Prep Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Assist with releasing patient medical records in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Answer incoming calls and direct callers appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with the US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Business Standards.
  • Release medical records information to individuals or agencies in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Print, mail, and/or fax patient chart information as requested and authorized, documenting all releases of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Submit requests for chart retrieval from storage to fulfill medical records requests.
  • Facilitate transfer of imaging to external entities.
  • Convert dosimetry plans into a PDR or ZIP file for patient transfers in the Radiation department.
  • Log FMLA and disability forms for provider completion and coordinate mailing or faxing.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full range of body motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • May occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • Strong computer technology skills
  • Previous medical records experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic health records preferred
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail
