The Medical Records Specialist processes and organizes medical records in a timely manner and in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, as well as state and federal laws. This role ensures completeness of records by auditing charts and completing a medical records checklist, manages storage and retention of charts, responds to medical record requests, copies records, and maintains a medical record tracking log. The position supports the center's policies and procedures and aligns with SCA Health's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center, or related field
- Computer experience with Excel, Word, medical billing software, and related applications
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
